What#$*!Gov (General Assembly, San Francisco)

Created a Hybrid Web App in an intensive UX design course. We were tasked with the development of an original idea from initial concept to final UX presentation.

MY IDEA

My idea was born from three things: a personal response to the last presidential election, growing up in the household of community activist parents - who taught us to be involved, and finally, the disturbing truth that across the country citizens did not know that ObamaCare and the Affordable Care Act are the same thing.

CLASSROOM PROCESS

We went through every aspect of bringing an idea thru the UX/UI design process. Starting from brainstorming ideas, possible solutions, competitive review and analysis, and user flows. Continuing with testing, testing, and more testing of the idea with multiple user interviews until a clear path was established. Creating user profiles, paper prototypes (and testing, testing, testing these), a sitemap, wireframes, brand standards, and finally a clickable prototype. All findings and steps were put into a slideshow and presented to the instructors and class for feedback.

VALUE OF LEARNING

I approached this class as a way to reaffirm my skills and joy of doing this work! I loved all the interaction of ideas, people, and processes. I mastered new applications and terminology all while documenting each step. I am excited to find my place in current job market.
